SIS650 motherboard, P4 CPU, unable to install DOS6.22. When installing DOS6.22, after it gets to 10% it cannot continue. I used the method of copying external commands to copy all the files over, but it cannot format. The partition is 2G, format FAT16. Checked everything and it was normal. Finally I went into the BIOS and LOADed the factory settings, and only then could it install normally. I can’t figure it out. As I understand it, DOS should be installable under any BIOS settings, and I can’t think which specific BIOS setting would affect DOS installation. And I also can’t get back to the previous setting. Can someone give me some pointers? Thanks!

It seems the “boot sector virus protection” item in the BIOS affects installing dos.

No way, I always thought this only affected installing windows systems!

Usually new motherboards have worse support for DOS. I guess they think DOS has already left the stage of history! As for my ASUS K8N motherboard, 32Bit DATA Transfer in the BIOS affects DOS and 98. Also, with the same boot disk, on an old machine I can get 620K conventional memory and 70K upper memory, but on this machine there is only 597K conventional memory and 6K upper memory.

Hello, experts! I want to make a human-computer dialog screen, and want to do it in DOS6.22. What software should I prepare? Also, I want to enter a screen after DOS boots. How should I do that? Thanks!

Because your requirements still aren’t specific enough. Human-computer dialog: is it a graphical interface or a character interface? If it’s the latter, generally you can use many batch file enhancement tools. Entering a screen after booting—can that be understood as displaying an image?
