How to install a system on a laptop without an optical drive? (How to perform DOS network connection using serial and parallel ports? How to install the DOS system?) I'm too noob, I only know how to install Windows 98 on desktop computers. Please be detailed.

You can completely install the DOS system without a CD - ROM. You can try the MS - DOS 7.10 boot disk made by the boss. After downloading, use the HD - Copy software to cut the disk image file *.img to the floppy disk. http://newdos.yginfo.net/dosware/mdos71bd.zip

Being able to install Windows 98 on a desktop computer isn't too bad. Installing DOS is actually just a prelude to installing Windows 98. You can do it with FORMAT + SYS + COPY. Most of the external commands and software of DOS can be run directly by copying them to the hard disk.

Just boot with the boot floppy, then run SYS C:, and then copy the things in. Most of the software and DOS commands under DOS are very small, and floppy disks can definitely handle it.

Connect the desktop and the notebook with a parallel port cable. Copy all WIN installation files and drivers to the desktop. Make a system floppy disk with INTLNKR.EXE. First, start the desktop to run INTERSVR.EXE. Then, start the notebook and directly run SETUP.
