fdisk /mbr

mbr is short for master boot recode (Master Boot Record)

Function: rewrite the Master Boot Record; it is an undocumented parameter of MS-DOS FDISK

There is no such usage as format /mbr (because the MBR does not belong to any partition, it cannot possibly be associated with FORMAT, which is a partition formatting program)

format is used to format floppy disks and hard disks; usually you only need it when installing the system
