It is impossible to directly install pure DOS under the NTFS partition. However, the method of booting to pure DOS using a virtual floppy drive (such as GRUB for NTLDR, etc.) can also be used. But please note the difference between installing DOS and booting to DOS using a virtual floppy drive.

I used to partition the hard disk into one primary partition + one extended partition. Once I was determined to set the primary partition, which is C:, to NTFS format. The problem arose that when installing FreeBSD on the second hard disk, it insisted on writing to the primary partition of the first hard disk.

So my C: has been in FAT32 format all the time, and the Windows system partition is on J:. I don't like installing (programs) on C: or D:.
