First use a boot disk (it's recommended to boot from CD) to start the system, use FDISK to partition, and FORMAT to format the hard disk (FDISK and FORMAT will completely delete all data on the hard disk, use them carefully). If the hard disk is already partitioned, then insert the CD of the operating system you want to install, enter the directory where the system files are located, and run SETUP. After that there will be prompts, it's very simple.

That's how it is for 98. If it's 2000 or XP, just go into the I386 folder and then run WINNT!

Before installing Win98, first run SMARTDRV.EXE to speed things up. If the boot disk doesn't have this file, then run it from the Win98 installation directory.
