I used to have a Win95 system. After installing MS-DOS 7.10 on the second partition, I found that I no longer know how to start the original Win95. What should I do????? Experts, please help me. I would be grateful beyond words!!!

win, or after entering the folder where Win95 is located, type the win command again.

That doesn't work. After typing win, I get a blue screen saying: Vfat + garbled text Vfat + garbled text System halted

It should be an MSDOS.SYS problem. Check whether the MSDOS.SYS in the root directory of drive C is only a few bytes. If it is, then use a floppy and COPY one from someone else's computer. The conditions are: the other computer must also have a Win9x system (Win98 is fine), and the size of the MSDOS.SYS file must be greater than 1KB. Then: ATTRIB -R -H -S C:\MSDOS.SYSDEL C:\MSDOS.SYSCOPY A:\MSDOS.SYS C:\

For some reason JonePeng is always saying incorrect things; this has happened many times already. For example, last time he actually said something about LASTDRIVE affecting HD drive-letter assignment and so on. And in this case the OP's win is 95, and dos is dos7.1. In this situation the MSDOS.SYS file cannot possibly be only a few bytes. “vfat + garbled text” means the IFSHLP.SYS file was not loaded correctly. Please check how this file is being loaded.

Many thanks to everyone for the enthusiastic help!! I copied msdos.sys from a Win98 boot disk to c:\, but the result was still a blue screen. Then I restored the original msdos.sys file and found three files under c:\: msdos.sys (568 bytes), msdos.dos (38138 bytes), msdos.--- (22 bytes). I renamed msdos.dos to msdos.sys, rebooted, and ran win. It displayed: Registry File was not found , Registry Services may be inoperative for this session.XMS Cache problem, Registry Services may be inoperative for this session. Then it was a blue screen again: “vfat + garbled text”

What exactly is the ifshlp.sys the admin mentioned? What do I need to do to make it load correctly? At c:\ I typed the command: dir ifshlp.sys /s /a and then found two files: c:\ifshlp.sys 3708 bytes 05/05/1999 10:22pc:\windows\ifshlp.sys 3708 bytes 02/25/1997 11:11aI copied ifshlp.sys from the windows folder to c:\ and overwrote the original file, then rebooted and ran win, but the result was still a blue screen.
