Today I officially installed ROM-DOS 7.10 onto the hard disk. I can boot ROM-DOS 7.10 on the hard disk directly by choosing "ROM-DOS" from the Win2K boot menu, without using any third-party boot manager software. ROM-DOS is pretty good; its main problem right now is the UMB issue.

Datalight has the official version of ROM-DOS 7.10. What I have now is a cracked set of ROM-DOS 7.10 system boot files.

Then how do you install the boot files you provided onto the hard disk, for example drive D?

If you put it on drive D, then you need a boot manager; if you put it on drive C, save ROM-DOS's master boot sector to a file, and then you can use the Win2K/XP boot menu.

Is it the same under 98? Is the Win2K/XP boot menu the one under "Start" - "Programs" - "Startup"?

The boot menu mentioned above does not mean the Start/Programs/Startup menu after entering the Windows operating system, but the menu for choosing the operating system when the machine first starts up. For details, see wengier's article on how to install DOS under Win2K\xp. It should be in the newbie section.
