I also made XP recently! No need to install DOS 7.10, just boot with a 98 boot disk! Then format /s c:! Then restart and install XP to have multiple boots! It is inferred that it is the same with a ME boot disk! (Not tested)

Actually, there is another way to install pure DOS under 2K and XP. That is to use "Virtual PC" and then install DOS. The functions all work normally.

The upstairs minisheep: This article introduces the method of installing a complete DOS, not the method of using some WIN boot disks. That has nothing to do with installing DOS. Moreover, reinstalling XP is very troublesome, and it's easier to just install DOS directly. |

My system is Windows 2000, and I want to install DOS to run the setup file under DOS. I don't have any boot disks at all. Guys, do you have any solutions? Help me out, please.

I know that the command line is different from pure DOS. Now the question is, since MS-DOS 7.1 in MS-DOS is called the most comprehensive and powerful DOS! Why do most people think that the highest and final version of the real pure DOS in MS-DOS should be MS-DOS 6.22 version?

Upstairs' Bright Water: Take a look at the "New DOS Era" website. It says that DOS has been developing all the time. Your statement is the old one. It's long out of date now. Updating and replacing the old with the new is the hard truth of development.

My computer is a "Ideal" Tongxi* brand computer with a P III 800HZ, 64MB of memory, and a 20GM hard disk. Recently, an additional 256MB of memory was added, and there is a 40GM hard disk. The C drive has Windows 98 installed, and the D drive has Windows 2000 Professional Edition installed! Does having Windows 98 on the C drive mean that the pure DOS system of MS-DOS 7.10 is installed? If it does, why can't the 98 boot disk be used to perform DOS overwrite installation and brand-new 98 DOS installation at present!

Guangming Zhishui: Of course, that doesn't count as a real pure DOS system. The pure DOS installation disk and the Windows startup disk are two different things. To install the pure MS-DOS 7.10 system, you should use the corresponding MS-DOS 7.10 installation disk, which has nothing to do with the so-called 98 startup disk. Moreover, the so-called 98dos you mentioned is neither pure nor complete. DOS is DOS, and WIN is WIN. They should not be confused. Although some versions of WIN are just GUI programs under DOS. Here is more detailed information about the full version of MS-DOS 7.10:

Wengier: I was greatly inspired by your previous post! But I have a CD that can implement a hassle-free installation of Win98. When you put it into the CD drive, just execute "Floppy Boot" (virtual) "Graphical Interface" on its menu, and then you can smoothly perform DOS overwrite and clean installation of Win98 on my computer! There will be a MS-DOS character graphical interface (which version is it?) popping up before the installation. Is this because the author of this CD can operate DOS programs relatively skillfully and the MS-DOS on this CD is very pure and complete!

Guangming Zhi Shui: Win98 is a GUI program under DOS. It comes with a special and incomplete version of DOS, including some restrictions. That article has already introduced it, so it won't be repeated here.
