Moderator, I used your method to make the boot disk, but the disk only has the PCDOS710。IMG file. Putting it into the floppy drive won't boot the computer at all! Why?

Of course the PCDOS710.IMG file cannot boot a computer directly. You have to use HD-COPY to write it out to a floppy first.

Looks like I really am a total newbie!
I used that Chinese-localized Windows version of HD-COPY, and it only has read image file and write image file! Very strange! |

Why would antivirus software lock up ms-dos?
If it gets locked, can you still boot with a floppy? (You can, right?) Why does it do that??? |

Classic nostalgia:
If it gets locked, then an MS-DOS boot floppy cannot boot, but the PC-DOS, ROM-DOS, FreeDOS, and other boot floppies mentioned above can boot. |

I think Wang Jiangmin was probably dissatisfied with Microsoft back then, so he only locked MS-DOS and not other DOSes (actually, they couldn't be locked anyway).
