Agree with the above. According to the prompt, directly install from the CD.

Unable to complete the installation task under DOS. WINXP is a pure 32-bit operating system and does not support 16-bit DOS commands. I also tried it but failed.

What? The Chinese version of WinXP I am using was installed under pure DOS (MS-DOS 7.10).

Is that so?
My disk is installed directly without entering DOS, haha

Just got to know each other, don't understand; A winnt command will support your DOS.

First, you boot with the Win98 boot disk. Don't take the disk out. Just load smartdrv.exe directly. Then enter i386/winnt, isn't that enough?

a:\smartdrv c+30720
a:\f:

Boot from any boot disk to start DOS, then directly enter
a:\>smartdv.exe
A:\>F:
F:\>CD I386
F:\>I386\WINNT
No problem.

Is there a mistake in the last command? Everyone above is right, but if I remember correctly, that command should be WINNT32.

Installing (not in a DOS window) -- winnt under DOS; in the DOS window of 98, winnt32...

There is such an experience: After booting with the msdos7.1 from our forum, winnt*.* cannot be found under i386.

The pure DOS boot disk made with win98 (no any programs, only can boot) can find winnt.

I have been wondering why this is?

Use the XP boot disk, restart, press Enter at the "BOOT FROM CD" step, then follow the prompts.
