It's like asking whether it's better to be alive or dead.
Being alive isn't good. At least every day one has to face many things and many people. Always afraid of getting hurt, afraid of getting old, and in the end afraid of dying.
Dying isn't good either. Because from that one time on, you can never experience the feeling in the human world again. Can't be exposed to light (ghosts die when exposed to light), always cursed by people in the human world, such words as "you ghost thing" and so on, cursed every day, "I'll never let you go even if I become a ghost"...
So actually there is no correct answer to this question. As long as the reason is sufficient, it can be considered correct.
