Under the environment of Windows XP, you can enter bootcfg /rebuild at the command prompt (I don't know if it can be used under 2000) to rebuild boot.ini. But what is repaired is only the boot.ini of XP. If you want to restore the dual-boot, you still need to rewrite boot.ini. If it is in the single-system situation, will there be a file named bootsect.dos? I didn't find it on my machine. What is its general function?

If the partition is in NTFS format, it cannot be recovered under DOS.
