If there are other partitions (such as logical partitions) in that area, the data of that partition located on cylinder 1023 will be destroyed. Because when using Windows98 FDIS to create partitions, it won't display the start cylinder of the partition, so this situation may happen inexplicably without the user's knowledge. Users must pay attention!

Yeah, so I use sofdisk

F32, PQ8, MS-FDISK.DM956.DISKMAN2.0... I haven't used others.

Among them, F32, DM, DISKMAN... all had errors... DM simply doesn't work on my computer, tried hundreds of times.

I think partitioning is important and basic, and can't be taken lightly, so I think it's better to use some reliable tools...
I think PQ has never had errors. MS-FDISK is also okay. (80G). GDISK is also not bad. Also, the.DISKPART + OFORMAT under the MS WIN32 environment can also be used. This is okay for large hard drives.

Ask if sofdisk and spfdisk are the same partition software. I remember one was written by a Taiwanese and the other by someone from Tsinghua University. Now I'm a bit confused. Which one is more reliable? Do both support 120GB large hard drives? Thanks

spfdisk is written by Taiwanese, supports 120G hard drives. From the use in the past few years, I think spfdisk is very good.

I have partitioned with DM, PQMAGIC, GDISK, basically there are certain compatibility problems.
Partitioning with GDISK once caused partition table abnormalities and 98 installation errors. After using PQMAGIC, using
some other partition software will cause partition table abnormalities (I always used PQMAGIC before using SPFDISK). DM is fast, but it is very easy to have problems, and each version must correspond to the hard disk. Although there is a universal version, sometimes it still makes mistakes. Now I only use it to deal with
motherboards that do not support large hard disks, and I don't use it for partitioning.
I haven't partitioned with F32 and DISKGEN. After screening, I think the best partitioning is SPFDISK,
restoring the partition table is DISKGEN, and adjusting the hard disk space size is PQMAGIC 6.0 Chinese version or
SMAGIC 4.0 Chinese version. I don't know if everyone has other opinions?

Hmm, I agree. Although MS's FDISK is slow, it is still the safest partitioning tool I have ever used. Other software, especially the low-version SFDISK (the one that can run under WIN), has several times caused my system to have multiple illegal partitions or the drive letter to reach Z.

Can the partition tool built into Windows 2000 be used in pure DOS? What is the maximum hard disk size it supports? If it can only be partitioned during the installation of WIN2K, then it's not meaningful.

PQMagic has the biggest problem in this regard, but partitions divided by SPFDISK have never had problems being detected by ndd.
