Just use debug yourself to write a soft reboot program. It's very useful for computer automation. Back then I used scandisk/surface to scan a bad hard drive and look for bad tracks, and it often crashed, so I put a soft reboot program at the end of autoexec.bat and that fixed it. Whenever it crashed, it would reboot itself.
