DOS cannot be replaced by any operating system, and its role is very significant.
Many operations that cannot be achieved in WIN can be realized with DOS.
A DOS boot disk only needs the most basic items. There is no need to have too many tools in it.

To install XP under DOS, you don't use SETUP, but WINNT. If it's a pure XP installation disk, it can be installed under DOS. Personally, I think DOS can only be an auxiliary tool for WIN.

How to say it, WINDOWS still can't do without DOS. Without DOS, there would be no WINDOWS. Looking at the tree structure of the DOS directory, DOS is like the root (root directory), and WINDOWS is like the branches (subdirectories). To some extent, DOS can complete tasks more excellently, and even tasks that WINDOWS can't handle, such as the loss of boot sector information caused by viruses and other factors, which leaves WINDOWS paralyzed. However, after booting with a DOS boot disk, entering a few simple commands may bring the system back to life.
