Having read so many friends' talks about DOS, I want to say that I like the classic things in the past. I think if DOS develops well, it is indeed small but practical. The current WinXP gives people the feeling of being flashy but useless. I still use Win3.2, Win95, Win97 from time to time.
But why can't WinXP perform the setup installation under DOS? For old motherboards that don't support optical drives, isn't it...
Why not? The WINNT command can do it.

Most people think that DOS is an outdated operating system and should be phased out, but that's completely not the case! Windows isn't all-powerful. Once the system crashes, you still need DOS to rescue it. Windows XP hasn't completely phased out DOS either. The fact that there's a "Command Prompt" in the accessories is evidence of that. It's said that Bill Gates didn't design Windows XP using the C language but the BASIC language. Just see how powerful DOS is!
