The discovery of using the new version 5.10 shows garbled characters:

DOS7.1
Usage:

vtmagic /t hz.txt
Generate hz.exe and hz.new
device=hz.exe

As shown: (The virtual machine is the same as the real machine)

It seems that there is no HZ.EXE file on the boot disk according to the prompt information attached to the picture.
In addition,
1) Is your CONFIG.SYS renamed from the HZ.NEW file?
2) If there are no Chinese characters that need to be displayed in CONFIG.SYS, there is no need to load the HZ.EXE font model in CONFIG.SYS.

First of all, thank you very much for Ben Shi's efficient reply!
If you pay attention to my command line, you can find that I am actually using vtmagic.com to generate two files, hz.exe and hz.new, from hz.txt, and there is no ren operation. In fact, I have added the line device=hz.exe in config.sys.

The garbled part that appeared earlier is the Chinese prompt statement generated by ehco.XXXXXX.

The above picture I posted is just my first step of operation. Actually, when I use it, I delete HZK16 and vtmagic in A:\, and only leave two files, hz.exe and hz.new. When actually applying, the above garbled code still appears.

It needs to be explained that this boot image has loaded Paragon IFS and HDPMI32. I don't know if it is related.

In addition, the IO.SYS (MSDOS7.1) of this boot image has been modified by the webmaster of this site.

My running environment is VMWARE5.5.1 and the actual machine boot of the virtual floppy disk guided by grub.

Just tried again, removed the line device=hz.exe, as you said, there is no need for Chinese character display in my config.sys. At the same time, I canceled the loading of IFS and HDPMI32, and only loaded hz.exe (generated by vtmagic above) in Autoexec.bat. The result is still the same as before. Now I don't know how to solve it.

Trouble is that the original poster should explain in detail the specific method of generating Chinese character fonts using "Weitameizhi" under WINDOWS. I am still a bit vague about the GBJ range! Hehe, I'm relatively stupid, don't mind~~

I actually have a suggestion: If you can directly edit Chinese characters under WINDOWS, and then use "Wei Ta Mei Zhi" to generate EXE, NEW, and you can use them directly, that would be great.

Because the original poster said that you need to use tools like "dreamedit" for conversion and so on, and I tried it, but I didn't understand it. Especially for a novice like me, I had to give up.

Regarding "garbled code", the actual problem is that the Chinese characters displayed by VT technology only have the glyph shape, and their internal codes have been replaced. So to display Chinese characters with VT, it must be "new" internal code Chinese character text! Therefore, the Chinese characters in the "new" internal code Chinese character text file must come from .NEW files. You can copy and paste or REN.

Regarding GBJ, the simplest method is to input Chinese characters under DOS Chinese character system to generate .exe/.new, etc.

Hope to give a simple and clear usage step:

My usage method:
1. Copy vtmagic.com, HZK16, hz.txt (the Chinese characters I need) to a boot image;
2. Boot this image to DOS and run: vtmagic /t hz.txt, at this time hz.exe and hz.new can be generated;
3. Delete the three files vtmagic, hz.txt, hzk16 in the image, and add device=hz.exe in config.sys;
4. Restart the image.

But the places with Chinese characters that come out of such steps show garbled codes indeed!!
I very much hope to use this tool, and hope to be guided. I hope to make a *.new file containing common Chinese characters, which can display characters in the machine or in the localized program, Chinese directory, etc. normally.
I don't know if the program generated by vtmagic can achieve this effect? Please!

Thanks for Ben Shi's answer. I have mastered the usage, but it's not very convenient to generate .EXE.NEW. It has to be generated in pure DOS, at least Chinese characters need to be edited in DOS. I am operating with a virtual machine, just booting to pure DOS with an image. Even if I use "Wei Tameizhi" to generate .EXE.NEW, how can I save it to my desktop?
I'm too lazy and always seeking the most simple and intuitive method. Is there really no way under WIN?
