Repost a section. I used to study Windows, and later I also made some optimized things with batch processing, which works very well for operating systems that have been used for a long time.
Make your own refined system. Definitely speed up by 3-5 times. (XP2)
Win XP Service List
In the XP system, there are nearly 90 services, and more than 30 services are enabled by default. In fact, we only need a few of them. Disabling all unnecessary services can save a lot of memory and system resources. However, after the default installation of Windows XP, the system will start many services, many of which are not needed or temporarily not needed by ordinary users, and instead waste a considerable amount of memory and system resources, especially memory, which affects the startup and running speed of the system. But due to limited level, I dare not randomly disable some services. So I found a lot of places and found some relevant articles, hoping to help friends who are suffering with XP like me. Some modifications have been made.
services.msc
You can choose to close, manually, or automatically.
Automatic starts with Windows.

*Windows Management Instrumentation - quite important service, manages "service dependencies", but closing it will cause strange problems.
There are many functions that affect the speed during the startup of Windows XP. Although Microsoft says it has been optimized, there are still some customizable places for us.
1、Turn off the effects in the system properties. This is a simple and effective way to speed up. Click Start→Control Panel→System→Advanced→Performance→Settings→In Visual Effects, set to Adjust for Best Performance→OK. Then the desktop will be very similar to win2000. I still like the blue window of XP, so check "Use visual styles on windows and buttons", so that you can see the beautiful blue interface and speed up.
2、Modify the run key in the registry, cancel those rarely used things, such as Windows Messenger. Enable the registry manager: Start→Run→Regedit→Find "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\MSMSGS"/BACKGROUND this key value, right-click→Delete, the world is much quieter. By the way, get rid of those cfmon things too.
3、Modify the registry to reduce prefetching, reduce the waiting time of the progress bar. The effect is that the progress bar runs around and then enters the login screen. Start→Run→regedit to start the registry editor, find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters, there is a key EnablePrefetcher, change its value to "1". In addition, friends who don't often replace hardware can set the device type on the bus device in the system properties to none (none).
4、Quickly browse the shared local area network. Usually, when Windows XP connects to other computers, it will comprehensively check all scheduled tasks on the other computer, and this check will make you wait for 30 seconds or more. The way to remove it is Start→Run→Regedit→Find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\RemoteComputer\NameSpace in the registry. Under this key value, there will be a {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} key. Delete it and restart the computer, Windows XP will no longer check the scheduled tasks, and the speed will be significantly improved!
5、Turn off the debugger Dr. Watson. You can cancel it like this: Open the registry, find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug subkey branch, double-click the Auto key value name under it, change its "Value data" to 0, and finally press F5 to refresh to make the settings take effect, so as to cancel its operation. Following this idea, we can cancel all options with debugging functions, such as memory.dmp that appears when the blue screen occurs. In "My Computer→Properties→Advanced→Settings→Write debugging information→Select None", etc.
Make your WINDOWS XP higher
一、System optimization settings.
1、Delete the accessories imposed by Windows:
1)Modify \winnt\inf\sysoc.inf with Notepad NOTEPAD. Use the find/replace function. Enter hide (a comma in English followed by hide) in the find box, and set the "replace with" box to empty. And select Replace All, so that all, hide are removed,
2)Save and exit,
3)Then run "Add/Remove Programs", and you will see that there are several more options in "Add/Remove Windows Components"; in this way, you can delete many useless accessories
2、Turn off the debugger Dr. Watson;
Dr.Watson is the built-in system maintenance tool, it will display when the program fails to load or crashes. Run drwtsn32, and remove all except "Dump all thread contexts". Otherwise, once there is a program error, the hard drive will make a long beep and occupy a lot of space. If you have encountered this situation before, please find the user.dmp file and delete it, which may save tens of MB of space. This is the scene of the error program, which is useless to us. Then open the registry, find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug subkey branch, double-click the Auto key value name under it, change its "Value data" to 0, and finally press F5 to refresh to make the settings take effect, so as to completely cancel its operation.
In addition, the memory.dmp that appears when the blue screen occurs can also be deleted. You can turn off the DUMP when the BSOD in My Computer/Properties.
3、Turn off "System Restore": Right-click the "My Computer" on the desktop and select "Properties", find "System Restore". If you don't install some software frequently (are you more powerful than me??), you can also remove it, which can save a lot of space.
4. Turn off "Hibernation Support": Because the hibernation function occupies a lot of hard disk space, it is better to turn it off,
Control Panel-->Power Options-->Hibernation (do not check)
(Blue Note: I think hibernation is still very useful.)
5、Turn off unnecessary services
Click "Start"→"Settings"→"Control Panel". Double-click "Administrative Tools"→"Services", and after opening, you will see the service list. Some services have started, and some have not. Right-click the service to be configured, and then click "Properties". On the "General" tab, select "Automatic", "Manual" or "Disabled". Among them, "Automatic" means that Windows XP automatically starts the service every time the system starts; "Manual" means that Windows XP will not automatically start the service, but starts the service manually when you need the service; and "Disabled" means that the service is not allowed to start. In actual configuration, selecting "Manual" or "Disabled" can both achieve the purpose of closing the service. It is recommended to use the manual function, so that you can start some temporarily needed services at any time.
Some services are necessary for Windows XP and cannot be closed, otherwise the system will crash. As for the functions of each service, we can double-click the service or hover the mouse over the service name to view. The specific service descriptions are simple, everyone can understand, and you can choose which ones to have and which ones to not have. The modification method is: select the disabled service, right-click, select "Properties"-> "Stop", and set "Startup type" to "Manual" or "Disabled".
6、Speed up XP's startup and shutdown
1)Shorten the waiting time
Open the registry editor, find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control,
Set WaitToKillServiceTimeout to: 1000 or smaller. (Original setting: 20000 )
Find the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop key, and change WaitToKillAppTimeout on the right window to 1000, (Original setting: 20000 ) that is, only wait 1 second when closing the program. Change the HungAppTimeout value to: 200 (Original setting: 5000 ), which means wait 0.5 seconds when the program is wrong.
2)Let the system automatically close the unresponsive program.
Open the registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop key, set AutoEndTasks value to 1. (Original setting: 0 )
3)MsConfig. Most friends should be familiar with MsConfig. This is a built-in Windows setting tool. Click the Start menu, select "Run", then type "msconfig" in the entry box and press Enter. The part we need to work on is the (Startup) tab. Click it. This tab shows all the programs that run when Windows starts. None of these programs are life-and-death for Windows, so feel free to remove the unnecessary ones. After removing some checks, Windows will start faster, and more idle system resources will be available.
7、XP Prefetcher
Windows XP comes with a service called Prefetcher, which manages the initial startup of programs during Windows startup. The specified programs can be quickly loaded in future use. Prefetcher is on by default, but its performance can be further improved. Open the registry editor, find in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory
ManagementPrefetchParameters, there is a key value named EnablePrefetcher, and its value is mostly 3. The recommended setting value is 5. On my computer, it works best when set to 5. You can try different values at will until you find the value that suits your computer best.
You can also disable Prefetcher by setting the value to 0. However, unless it is for testing purposes, no one is stupid enough to set it to 0.
8、Compressed folders
This is a very good optimization. Windows XP has built-in support for.ZIP files, and we can browse zip files as folders. However, the system needs to use some resources to realize this function, so disabling this function can improve system performance. The implementation method is very simple, just unregister zipfldr.dll. Click Start——Run, type: regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll. Then press Enter.
9、Do not load DLL files
The browser often has some DLL files cached in memory for a long time after use, and a large part of the memory will be occupied by unused DLL files. In order to prevent this from happening, find the following location in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorer
Next, create a double-byte value named AlwaysUnloadDLL with a value of 1.
If you want to remove this optimization, just set the key value to 0 (or simply delete the key). Note: This optimization will take effect after Windows restarts.
10、Completely turn off the Windows XP file protection function. Use this trick with caution
Find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon from the registry, and modify the "SFCDisable" key value to "FFFFFF9D". If you need to re-enable this function, reset it to "0".
11、Manually specify process order view
Press Control+Alt+Delete three keys at the same time, then click the "Processes (Process)" tab, and you can see a dialog box as shown in the picture above. Here you can see all the processes running at present. If you want to allocate more process time to a program, such as 3D Studio Max, just right-click this process, then move the mouse pointer down to "Set Priority> (Set Priority)", and then select which priority you want this program to be in. When I receive email, I will set 3DMAX to "Standard", but when I leave the computer, I will raise its priority to the highest "Real Time", so that the computer can focus and process 3D actions more quickly
12、Turn off error reporting
Control Panel---->System---->Advanced---->Bottom right corner--->Error Reporting---->Turn off
13、Speed up window display speed: We can change the action of the window popping up from the taskbar and minimizing back to the taskbar by modifying the registry. The steps are as follows: Open the registry editor, find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\
Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics subkey branch, find the MinAniMate key value in the right window, its type is REG_SZ, by default the value of this key value is 1, which means to enable the animation of window display. Change it to 0 to disable the display of animation. Then select the "Log off" command from the Start menu to activate the changes just made.
14、Remove the "Update" option: For most users, the Windows Update function of Windows XP seems to be of little use. We can remove it. The operation steps are as follows: Open the registry editor, find
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software \Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer subkey branch, select the "New" command under the "Edit" menu, create a REG_DWORD value, name it NoCommonGroups, double-click the newly created NoCommonGroups subkey, enter the key value "1" in the "Edit String" text box, then click the "OK" button and restart the system.
15、Modify the login background pattern of Windows XP: Facing the monotonous login pattern that has been unchanged for a long time, you may get tired of it. We can change it to the pattern you like through the registry. The steps are as follows: Open the registry editor, find HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop subkey branch, double-click wallpaper, type the path of the picture you have selected, such as: c:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Pictures\mypic.bmp, click "OK", then find Tilewallpaper, double-click it and enter the key value "1", restart the system to see the effect.
16、Modify the background color during login: If you also want to modify the background color during login, you can operate as follows: Open the registry editor, find HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Colors subkey branch, double-click the Background key name under the subkey branch, the "Edit String" dialog box will appear, enter the key value representing the color in the "Value data" text box (for example, the RGB value of black is 000, the RGB value of white is 255 255 255, and the system default value is 58 110 165), click the "OK" button, and restart the system to see the effect.
17、Set startup information or add warning information: If you want to display some personalized information defined by yourself when starting Windows XP, you can operate as follows: Open the registry editor, find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon subkey branch, double-click the LegalNoticeCaption key name under it, open the "Edit String" window, enter the title of the information dialog box in the "Value data" text box, such as "Hello, welcome to use this machine", then double-click LegalNoticeText, enter the warning information you want to display in the subsequent "Edit String" window, such as "Please do not randomly modify the settings at this level, thank you!", click the "OK" button, and restart to see the modified effect.
18、Keep the desktop settings unchanged every time you start: We can protect our desktop settings by modifying the registry. No matter what modifications are made, the desktop will return to the original state after restarting. The steps are as follows: Open the registry editor, find HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Polices
\Explorer subkey branch, find NoSaveSettings under it, its type is REG_SZ, change its key value to "0", or directly delete the key value item, and restart the system to make the settings take effect.
19、Arbitrarily customize button color: Although Windows XP itself has multiple window display schemes, if the user wants to define the color of a certain part, such as changing the color of the button from black to blue or red, then the registry needs to be modified. The steps are as follows: Open the registry editor, find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Colors subkey branch, double-click Bottontext under it, change its key value to the value of the color you want in the opened dialog box, such as red 255 0 0, click the "OK" button, and restart the system to see the effect. At this time, the text color on the button will become red. In addition, you can also modify parameters such as the width and height of the button and the background.
20、Modify the right-click menu of the mouse
We know that the right-click menu of the mouse can be modified through the registry in 98. In fact, it can also be modified in WinXP. The method is as follows: Here, take adding "Browse here in DOS window" to the right-click menu of the mouse as an example.
1) Open the registry editor, find HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell, then select it, right-click the mouse, create a new primary key, name it "DOS", then select the newly created primary key, double-click the default string value on the right, enter "Browse here in DOS window" in the pop-up dialog box, then select the newly created primary key, and then create a primary key, name it "command", select the "command" primary key, and modify the default value to "cmd.exe /k "cd %L"".
2) Check: Press the right mouse button on any folder, and you can see "Browse here in DOS window" in the pop-up menu. Select to browse here in DOS window, press the left mouse button, and see, the DOS window pops up!
21、Modify the system ID number (ID number is very important in WinXP)
You can see a string of numbers under the General tab in System Properties, such as: 55661-005-0809362-22169, etc. This is the ID number. The ID number of each set of genuine WinXP is different (you should be able to guess my purpose). So can we modify it? Of course we can (nonsense! If we couldn't, there would be no need to write this article). Follow me and see my ability!
1) The ID number is stored in the registry. Mainly placed under these key values:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Registration's string ProductId
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\User information's string product identification /*If you have not registered with Microsoft, this will not appear*/
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion's string ProductId
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion's string ProductId
These 4 places are the key values where the ID is stored in the registry. You need to modify them at the same time. After modification, look at the General tab in System Properties to avoid modification failure and ID restoration.
22、Modify the version number:
There is an internal version number in About Windows (the official version is: 2600.xpclient.010817-1148). This version number is also stored in the registry. The specific location is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion. It is recorded with a string. Modifying this string named BuildLab can modify the version number of your XP.
23、Delete files to the hidden trash can
The default location of the Windows XP trash can is in the lower right corner of the desktop, above the bottom system tray. If the user opens multiple windows, it will block the trash can, making it impossible for the user to drag files and folders to the trash can. For this reason, Microsoft has specially made a very user-friendly design. When the user drags a batch of files and moves them to the lower right corner of the desktop, the user can drag the mouse and move all files to the blank area of the taskbar at the bottom of the desktop, and stay there for a few seconds. At that time, all opened windows will automatically minimize, allowing the user to drag files to the trash can. In addition, no matter whether the opened multiple windows are maximized or not, the user can achieve the effect of minimizing all windows by performing the above operation.
24、Set music directory pictures at will
Windows XP provides many more advanced management functions on top of previous Windows operating systems, including the picture album generator, which can automatically place the album cover pictures in the corresponding music folder saved by the user (these music files are generally Microsoft's WMA format files). Although this function is very convenient, there are also some problems. For example, if some users have previously transcribed some music CD discs into MP3 format and saved them on the hard disk, although the user can download the album cover page of the CD disc from some music websites such as "www.cdnow.com" and "www.amguide.com", the user can only manually add these cover pages to each music folder one by one. This will take a long time, and once the user reinstalls the operating system, he has to repeat the above complicated operations.
How to solve this problem? Actually not complicated. When the user downloads the music album cover picture, please save the picture file name as "folder.jpg" and place it in the corresponding music folder. In this way, the Windows XP system will automatically set it as the thumbnail picture of the folder, and if the user uses the Media Player for Windows XP (MPXP) player to play the music file, the system will automatically display the album cover picture. After this operation, even if the user reinstalls the operating system in the future, there will be no problem.
In addition, if the user has a need, he can also save a smaller picture file named "albumartsmall.jpg" when saving the above-mentioned "folder.jpg" file. The advantage of this is that if the user uses the MPXP player to play the music file, but the window of the player is smaller than 200 X 200 pixels, the player can directly display this smaller picture. Otherwise, the player needs to process "folder.jpg" and adjust its size to be displayed in the smaller window, which will naturally have a certain impact on the speed of file call.
25、Conveniently defragment the hard disk
After using the computer for a period of time, a large number of file fragments will be generated on the hard disk, and the user needs to regularly call the disk defragmenter to clean up. For this reason, here is a method that allows you to call the disk defragmenter more conveniently.
The user uses "Notepad" to edit a registry import file named "context_defrag.inf" and enter the following content in the file:
; context_defrag.INF
; Adds Defrag to the right click context menu in Windows XP
signature="$CHICAGO$"
AddReg=AddMe
HKCR,"Drive\Shell\Defrag\command",,,"DEFRAG.EXE %1"
After editing, right-click the file with the mouse and select "Install". After installation, a text menu is added in the Windows XP operating system. When the user needs to defragment the hard disk, open "My Computer", right-click the hard disk drive letter that needs to be defragmented with the mouse, select the "defrag" item from the pop-up text menu, and the system will automatically call the built-in "defrag.exe" program to defragment the hard disk.
If the user needs to delete the information installed in the system registry, use the regedit.exe registry editor to edit and modify. The specific operation is to find the "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell\" directory item, delete the "defrag" folder in it, and finally close the registry editor.
26、Clear shared folders
A less user-friendly user interface of the Windows XP operating system is that all shared folders are displayed in the upper part of the "My Computer" window. If the user sets more shared folders, every time the "My Computer" window is opened, a lot of shared folder information will be listed. How to delete these information displays? Use the registry editor and find this primary key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ My Computer \ NameSpace \ DelegateFolders". There is a subkey named {59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee} under this primary key. Delete this subkey to clear those shared folder information. The above modification takes effect without restarting.
27、Display the shared settings tab
In the Windows 2000 operating system, when the user sets the shared attributes of the folder, the operation is very simple. Just right-click the folder and select Properties, and you can see the shared settings tab. However, when setting the folder sharing in the Windows XP system, it is more complicated, and the user cannot see the shared settings tab through the above operation. The specific modification method is as follows: Open "Tools" in "My Computer", select "Folder Options", call out the "View" tab, scroll to the bottom of the "Advanced Settings" part and cancel the selection in front of "Use simple file sharing (Recommended)". In addition, if there is also a "Mickey Mouse" item in the option bar, cancel its selection. After this modification, the user can modify the folder properties conveniently like using Windows 2000.
28、Call the system sound scheme
Compared with previous Windows operating systems, Windows XP provides a more excellent sound scheme, but the system does not call this scheme by default. In order to activate this scheme, we need to perform the following operations: Open "Control Panel", select "Sound, Speech, Audio Devices" item, find the taskbar of "Modify sound scheme" from it, select "Windows Default" in the opened dialog box, at this time the system will prompt the user whether to save the previous sound scheme settings, the user can select "No" and click "OK" to complete the modification
29、Speed up the display of the Start menu
The default display of the Start menu in the Windows XP system is slow, but the user can speed up the display by editing the registry key value. The specific method is: Open the registry editor, find "HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop \ MenuShowDelay" primary key. The system default value is 400. The user can appropriately reduce the key value according to their preferences, and the minimum can be set to "0". If this method is invalid, please select "Display Properties" from "Control Panel", select "Advanced" in "Display Effects", and cancel the selection of the "show menu shadow" item, so that the display of the Start menu can be speeded up.
30、Make the welcome window clearer
The display effect of the Windows XP system has been greatly improved, which is mainly based on the use of the clear technology named "ClearType". This technology makes users using laptops and LCD monitors feel different from previous systems when running the Windows XP operating system. However, since this clear effect can only be called after Windows starts, the welcome window during the system startup process still cannot achieve this effect. In order to make the welcome window clearer, the user can use the registry editor to modify it. Find these two primary keys
"(default user) HKEY_USERS \ .Default \ Control Panel \ Desktop \ FontSmoothing
(String value)" and "HKEY_USERS \ .Default \ Control Panel \ Desktop \ FontSmoothingType
(Hexadecimal DWORD value)", change the key value to "2", so that the clear display effect can be achieved.
31、Disable automatically calling "Windows Messenger" at startup
In order to promote the instant chat program "Windows Messenger" launched by Microsoft, the default setting of the Windows XP operating system is to call this program at system startup. But if you are not used to using this program, you can achieve it by deleting the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\MSMSGS" key.
32、Display "Hibernate" in the shutdown dialog box
The default setting of Windows XP is that there is no option to put the system into hibernation in the shutdown dialog box. The operation to display this option is very simple. When the shutdown dialog box appears, the user can press the "SHIFT" key at the same time, and then the "Hibernate" option will appear.
二、Hardware optimization
1、Memory performance optimization
There are several options in Windows XP that can optimize memory performance, all of which are in the following location in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
1)Disable memory paging executive (Paging Executive)
In normal circumstances, XP will write the fragments in memory to the hard disk. We can prevent it from doing this and keep the data in memory, thereby improving system performance. It should be noted that users with a lot of memory (more than 256M) can use this setting. The name of this setting is as its function, called "DisablePagingExecutive". Change its value from 0 to 1 to disable memory paging.
2)Improve system cache: Change the LargeSystemCache key value from 0 to 1, and Windows XP will allocate all the system memory except 4M to the file system cache. This means that the kernel of XP can run in memory, greatly improving system speed. The remaining 4M memory is used for disk cache. Under certain conditions, when needed, XP will allocate more. Generally speaking, this optimization will improve system performance considerably, but it may also reduce the performance of some applications. As mentioned earlier, you must have more than 256M of memory to activate LargeSystemCache, otherwise don't touch it.
3)Input/output performance: This optimization is only of real significance to server users—it can improve the performance of the system when transferring large files. By default, this key value does not exist in the registry. You must create a DWORD (double-byte value) key value yourself, named IOPageLockLimit. Most people find that the performance is best between 8 and 16M bytes when using this optimization. You can try setting what value to see which value can get the best performance. Remember that this value is calculated in bytes. Therefore, for example, if you want to allocate 12M, it is 12 * 1024 * 1024, which is 12582912. Like the above memory optimization, only when your memory is larger than 256M can you change the value here.
2、Enable DMA: Go to Device Manager, select IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, go to the advanced settings in Primary/Secondary IDE Channel, set all transfer modes to use DMA (if available), and the system will automatically enable DMA support (it should also be set to support DMA in BIOS)
3、Turn off the autorun function of the CD-ROM in XP: Open: My Computer, right-click on the CD-ROM drive under "Removable Storage Devices", then click "Properties", do you see the "AutoPlay" tab? Go ahead and change it yourself.
4、Set CPU: Windows XP cannot automatically detect the level of the secondary cache of the processor. We need to manually set it in the registry. First, open the registry (type "Regedit" in Run), open:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\, select "SecondLevelDataCache", and set it according to the processor you are using. For example, PIII Coppermine/P4 Willamette is "256", Athlon XP is "384", and P4 Northwood is "512"
5、When installing drivers in XP, a window often appears saying that this program has not been verified by Microsoft. We can go to Control Panel——System——Hardware——Device Manager——Driver Signature, see the option, and know what to do.
6、Prioritize IRQ interrupt requests
Each main component of the computer is set with an IRQ interrupt number. Here, the purpose is to optimize by modifying the priority order of each IRQ request. The main optimization object here is the system/CMOS real-time clock, which improves performance through the motherboard. First, determine which component you want to get higher performance, then find the IRQ interrupt number that this hardware is using. How to find it? Open the system properties in Control Panel (you can also press the Windows+Break hotkey combination on the keyboard to open it). Select the "Hardware" tab, then click the "Device Manager" button. Right-click the component for which you want to check the IRQ number, select "Properties", then click the "Resources" tab. Here you can see the IRQ interrupt number that the device is using (if there is no IRQ interrupt number, select another device). Write down the interrupt number, then run the registry editor regedit, and find the location of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\PriorityControl in the registry. We need to create a DWORD double-byte value named IRQ#Priority (where "#" is the specific IRQ interrupt number) here, and then set its value to 1. For example, the IRQ interrupt number of my system CMOS real-time clock is 8, and the key name I need to create is IRQ8Priority. After restarting the computer, you will find that the performance of the just-optimized component has improved. I strongly recommend using this method to optimize the system CMOS real-time clock, because it can improve the performance of the entire motherboard. Of course, you can also increase the priority of multiple IRQ interrupt numbers, but this effect is not so good, and it may cause system instability. To cancel this optimization setting, just delete the just-created registry key value.
三、Network optimization:
1、Speed up sharing: This is a great optimization. Before finding this optimization, I often broke my head waiting for the window to display the shared directory on other machines. Usually, when Windows XP connects to other computers, it will check all scheduled tasks on the other computer—this is redundant, and it will make you wait for 30 seconds, which is really bad. Fortunately, this process can be easily disabled. First, find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows/Current Version\Explorer\RemoteComputer\NameSpace in the registry. Here, there should be a {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-87-00AA0060F5BF} key. Just delete it, and after restarting the computer, Windows will no longer check the scheduled tasks, and the speed will be significantly improved!
2、Solve the problem that WinXP pauses when executing
Start——Network Connections——Local Connection, right-click, select Properties, select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", click Properties, use the following IP address: 192.168.0.1, subnet mask: 255.255.255.0, this will be fine, and there will be no pause when booting later
3、How to make XP connect to the Internet automatically:
IE—— Tools——Internet Options——Connections, check "Dial when the network is not present", pull IE to "Start"
After the computer is fully started every time, you are already online! There is another method:
Enter the connection content, cancel the check of "Prompt for name, password, credentials, etc.", then pull the connection to "Start" (Blue Note: It is estimated that the original author is from Hong Kong and Taiwan, and the terminology is different. Because I use broadband to access the Internet, I don't know what the terminology is in Simplified Chinese. Friends who have modified it successfully, please post a message to facilitate my modification.)
4、By default, XP Pro will reserve 20% of the bandwidth of a network card. The modification method is to log in with administrator privileges, start the menu——Run——type gpedit.msc, the "Group Policy" window will appear, expand "Network" in "Administrative Templates", expand "QoS Packet Scheduler", right-click "Limit reserved bandwidth" in the right window, in the "Settings" in the properties, there is "Limit reserved bandwidth", select "Enabled", then select a value in the "Bandwidth limit" column below. You cannot select "Disabled", because that way, the system will think that you have approved the reserved 20% bandwidth. The specific modification can refer to the "Description" column next to "Properties". After performing the above modification and applying it, the user should be able to see "QoS Packet Scheduler (QoS Packet Scheduler)" in the general properties tab in the properties dialog box of the network connection. The Home version does not support this operation and cannot remove this limit!
5、XP has a built-in firewall, and the default setting is not turned on. The setting method is detailed in the following "Comprehensive Firewall Setting".
四、XP system partition slimming method.
1. Delete system file backup sfc.exe /purgecache (ordinary users don't use it much)
2 Delete driver backup The Driver.cab file in the windows\driver cache\i386 directory (73mb)
3. Cancel system restore (Overall, the system restore function is still good. It is recommended that only the disk where XP is installed use it, and other disks should not be used. If the hard disk space is not enough one day, you can delete some earlier restore points through the system cleanup program)
4、Delete help files (subtract more than 40mb) (The file size of the Chinese localization package is 92MB. Friends who just started using XP had better not delete it)
5、Delete the files under \WINDOWS\system32\dllcache (subtract 200-300mb). (These are backup DLL files. As long as you have copied the installation files, you can do this completely. Since you delete it like this, you have nothing to say)
6、Transfer My Documents, IE temporary folder to other disks (partitions). (It is good for both the speed of the system and the hard disk. If you are using a dual system, it is best to put the IE temporary files of both systems in the same folder, which not only speeds up but also saves space)
7、Also transfer the virtual memory to other disks. (That is, put these things and temporary download files usually in a small partition, which is also convenient for organizing the hard disk)
8、Install application software on other disks (this is also good for reinstalling the system, which can save a lot of things)
9、Delete the unnecessary input methods under \windows\ime! (Japanese, Korean, traditional Chinese input methods, 84.5MB) (Which one is which, you can study it yourself! Sometimes you have to use your own brain and exercise!)
10、If you install XP with NTFS, it saves disk space by itself.
五、Other
1、Activate display:
After booting, open the Run bar in the Start menu, type: oobe/msoobe /a
If "Windows Product Activation" appears, it means Windows has been activated
2、Make a DOS boot disk:
Right-click "3.5-inch floppy disk", select Format, then select "Create a MS-DOS boot disk"
3、Solve the taskbar freezing (authoritative elimination of QQ, IE, etc. causing taskbar freezing)
"Control Panel"->"Regional and Language Options"->"Language"->"Details", in the pop-up "Settings window", select "Preferences"->"Language Bar", close "Display language bar on the desktop", and check the third item "Display other language bar icons in the notification area". If you don't need handwriting recognition and speech recognition, you can also check the last item "Turn off advanced text services".
4、Compatibility of some software (suitable for Home Edition "HomeEdition" and Professional Edition "Professional")
For QQ freezing, and other certain programs that cannot run normally under XP, you can find the executable file of the program, right-click, select the "Compatibility" tab in the pop-up dialog box, and select the corresponding running environment needed under "Compatibility mode".
5、Dual operating system, how to uninstall xp
First boot with a boot disk, then type "a:\sys c: ", then restart from the hard disk, then delete boot.ini, bootsect.dos, ntdetect.com, ntldr, then directly delete the windows, program files, Documents and Settings, etc. directories of xp, or format the hard disk of winxp (if your xp and win98 are not on the same partition)
6、How to judge whether xp is a Chinese official version.
Open to see the installation folder i386, find SETUPP.INI, open it with Notepad. If the content is:
If it is the same as the following, it is the one patched with the English version corpfiles.
ExtraData=796674736977656D7A622E385892A4
Pid=55274270
The current Chinese enterprise version SETUPP.INI content is
ExtraData=766E74737A7B787061627428828710
Pid=55394270
