I'm freaking out, please help! How to convert NTFS to FAT32! - China DOS Union Forum

OP, if you don't want the "two" systems on the drive, then this is simple: just format the system partition in one go and reinstall. At the beginning of the reinstall it will prompt you whether to format the system as NTFS or FAT32. Just choose FAT32 and it'll be OK. You can also end up with an XP in the best shape, and there won't be the "two" XP systems you mentioned.

If you want to keep the original files, download PartitionMagic V8.0. It can even convert FAT32 to NTFS, so NTFS to FAT32 is even less of a problem.
I tried FAT32-->NTFS once during winter break. PartitionMagic V8.0 doesn't support Chinese, and the Chinese-named folders on the drive couldn't be opened anymore, they all turned into ???.
I haven't tried NTFS-->FAT32.

There's another method too, found online:
"Start->Programs->Command Prompt", then in the "Command Prompt" window that pops up, enter "Convert C：/FS：NTFS/V" and press "Enter".
In WIN2000, you can't use this method to convert the operating system partition, which is usually the C drive where everyone installs the system. If you force the conversion, it will cause data loss, and the operating system after conversion often has errors. But in WIN-XP this problem doesn't exist. When you choose to convert the operating system partition, you'll get a prompt telling you that forcing the conversion of certain system files will cause errors, and asking whether you want to force the conversion. Of course you must not choose "Yes", so after choosing "No", the system will restart and then automatically complete the conversion.
I still suggest reinstalling. Delete that useless extra XP that's just taking up space.

I downloaded software to do the conversion, but none of it worked. My hard drive is NTFS, and I want to change it to FAT32 and then go into DOS to format the hard drive, because it seems like there are two XP systems on the drive, so I'm really anxious... Could everyone help me? Is there any way to convert it? Or is there any more reliable software I can download?????
