My PC was upgraded from 98 to XP, and I want to restore it back to 98, but the CD-ROM drive won't work.
Using the system recovery for my own machine also requires pure DOS. What should I do?

I don't know in what way your CD-ROM drive can't be used. If the CD-ROM drive is damaged, please buy a new one and install it. Most software installation needs it now.

Also, does your machine have a floppy drive? Or does it support USB booting? If your machine has a floppy drive, please make a WIN98 boot disk, then boot the machine from the floppy drive, format drive C, and then install the WIN98 system. If your machine supports USB booting, please make the USB drive into a bootable system, use it to boot the machine, and the later steps are basically the same as above.
