I copied grub for ntldr to c:\, and modified the relevant behavior in grldr (hd1,0)/grub/menu.lst----this is the grub menu in my Magic Linux. Grub for ntldr can read the menu, but cannot use the boot background picture set in grub.conf.

To be precise, this is not a bug, but rather that GRUB for DOS and GRUB for NTLDR do not support the background picture patch specially customized by REDHAT.

In fact, GRUB for DOS 0.2.0 can be officially released now. I used to not care about the appearance of GRUB for DOS, and it seems that the developers of GNU GRUB also don't care about its appearance, but are more concerned about things like stability, correctness, and security.

I haven't studied RedHat's patch, and I don't know if the redhat patch is safe. Since GNU GRUB 0.94 did not adopt the redhat background picture patch, I don't want to adopt it either. If someone is willing to adopt it, they can apply the REDHAT patch themselves. I don't have the energy to take care of this. The GRUB for DOS I provide should be regarded as a basic system, just like what GNU provides. Anyone can extend it as they like.

On the contrary, if I apply the REDHAT patch to GRUB for DOS, it will be troublesome for those who don't want the redhat patch.

Actually, the XPM patch is not exclusive to RedHat; some other systems' GRUB also have it.
