I wonder if everyone has downloaded it? I couldn't get it installed in Virtual PC 5.1, it always reports a hard disk error.
Please help me out, do I really have to use a real hard disk? |

My OS/2 Warp 3.0 Chinese edition installation files are on 45 3-inch floppy disks, and the disk format is XDF. I wonder which version yours is, and what type of installation media it uses? But I didn't get any errors installing it on Virtual PC, so I don't know what the reason is.

Kinglion: I wonder if you have OS/2 Warp 4.x? How large is it? Is it installed from floppies or from CD?

Right, it's 45 disks, Chinese edition, in DSK format. I had VPC read them directly, without using floppies (I don't have that many floppies).
After checking, I suspect there is a problem with the files. Some of those .DSK files are 1440K, some are 1840K. The 1440K ones have no problem and can be used directly, but the 1840K ones give errors when read as floppies (reading any file gives an error, see ). But WinImage can open them and extract the contents smoothly. After copying the contents to the hard disk (.VHD), they can be read normally, and the executable files can also run normally. I tried converting them to other formats, such as IMA, VFD, etc., but they still could not be read normally as floppies. The archive I downloaded contains XDFCOPY.EXE, which can make floppies, and there are examples in the BAT for making floppies, so I continued testing: XDFCOPY DISKn.DSK A: The 1440K ones respond like this: XDF3515: Writing... 0%_________25%_________50%_________75%_________100% *************************************************** XDF3516: Verifying... 0%_________25%_________50%_________75%_________100% *************************************************** The 1840K ones give an error: XDF3515: Writing... 0%_________25%_________50%_________75%_________100% XDF3507: An error occurred while writing to the target diskette or image file. Information on the diskette or image file might be incomplete or distorted. ![]() |

Make two boot disks (disk0.dsk disk1.dsk) to boot from, then press F3, and you can use xdfcopy to make the remaining disks, or use a suitable xdf driver (there is one in PCDOS).

Thanks to the poster above, I tried it, as shown below. I also found the XDF Driver in PCDOS and tried it, but it still doesn't work. Could it be that my floppy disks are bad?

Change disks, hehe! To install this thing, you have to be prepared to be messed around by it, hehe. Get 20 really good floppy disks ready first.

Also, making XDF-format disks in Virtual PC 5.1 won't work. It has to be done in a real environment.

Many thanks to the poster above. I tried it in DOS, and I did make them, but they just can't be used. I only have two good floppy disks.
Forget it, I won't install it for now. I'm going to school this afternoon, no time anymore. |
