XMSDSK corresponds to XMS memory, while EMSDSK corresponds to EMS memory.

But if I first use xmsdsk 30000, and then use emsdsk 30000, the memory usage shown by mem is exactly the same.

Because most EMS memory nowadays is itself virtualized from XMS memory...

There is also an xmsdsk86 in the xmsdsk ZIP package, specially prepared for the 8086. It can also run normally on my PIII machine. I wonder what is special about it?

xmsdsk cannot be used on an 8086, but xmsdsk86 can.
