DOS needs further development; the key is how we define its future direction - China DOS Union Forum

I started redeveloping DOS 6.22 back in 2001, and in actual practice I found that to completely realize MACK IN CHINA is basically no different from rewriting the system in C.
Then there is the fact that DOS's driver library and software are pitifully scarce.
Although I have already collected a batch of pre-94 sound and video card drivers from foreign websites, anything after 95 is very hard to find. Write drivers myself? At most that would only support the hardware devices I have on hand. If I were to release them, I'd also have to consider various compatibility issues and the like. Of course direct support from the manufacturers would be best. But right now they only think highly of Linux. In fact, I personally think that is also MACK IN CHINA. Linux's advantages are naturally much stronger than DOS's. As things stand now, for DOS to gradually move toward with multimedia is almost impossible. This is not simply a matter of lacking direct software and hardware support. Of course I have to admit that if the hardware were supported, then using Quickview pro under DOS to watch VCDs would definitely be no worse than under 98.

I really wonder what those Chinese Academy of Sciences academicians are busy with all day. Computers have an unprecedented impact on mankind. In theory, developing MACK IN CHINA software and hardware could rank alongside building atomic bombs, but in the end what came out was Red Flag Linux, and compared with other Chinese Linux systems, it looks even more like OEM
