Solve your problem easily with SPFDISK

Just install Linux. You can use lilo to boot 2K and XP, and you can also use the boot menu provided by WinXP to boot Linux. As for partitioning, you can use the partitioning tool provided by the installed Linux. If the disk format of Win2K and XP is NTFS, you can't install DOS. For DOS, if you just want to play around, you can install it in a virtual machine. One more old - fashioned reminder before installing Linux: back up important data.

There may be some problems with the current LILO. If the number of cylinders of the hard disk exceeds 1024, LILO cannot boot, that is to say, LILO cannot boot a hard disk larger than 8GB. The new Linux defaults to using GRUB as the boot program. This program is fine and also supports boot logos, passwords, etc.

Now the current LILO doesn't seem to have the situation mentioned in floor 6. At least my RedHad doesn't, and there is also a boot logo.
