I just used the MS-DOS 7.10 full installation CD ISO edition to install DOS in VMware. In VMware I made two partitions, C and D, but when I enter E: it can't find the CD-ROM drive. How can I fix this? It seems like I need to edit a system file?
Thanks |

Did you load MSCDEX and the other CD-ROM drivers?

Sorry, I don't understand DOS. How do I load it?
In VMware I used the DOS 6.22 image as a floppy boot disk and then installed the CD edition of DOS 7.10 |

The CD edition of MS-DOS 7.10 is a bootable CD, so it can boot directly. Also, the MS-DOS 7.10 installer will automatically load the CD-ROM drive by default. Did you choose not to load the CD-ROM drive during installation?

There were a lot of English options and I didn't pay much attention. I'll try reinstalling, thanks

That's right, I didn't notice it at the time, and now it's working.
But I still want to ask: on a normal boot disk, for example one made by XP, how should the CD-ROM drive be loaded? I heard you only need to add one line to a system file, is that so? |
