How do I clear leftover restore information after Restore Wizard has been damaged? - China DOS Union Forum

WIN2000, XP

On a computer with Restore Wizard installed, under accidental circumstances (including online cracking, hangs during transfer/saving, etc.), the Restore Wizard installation information becomes incomplete, and Windows cannot be entered normally. Safe Mode also does not work, but it is possible to boot from another device and access the logical drives. Under these conditions, even a system cloned over from a good hard disk (both full-disk and partition cloning have been tested) still cannot enter Windows. However, if WIN2000 or XP is freshly installed from the original CD, Windows can be entered normally. When installing Restore Wizard again on the freshly installed system, it reports that a product of this type is already installed on the computer. After uninstalling it and then cloning again, Windows can be entered successfully.

Repartitioning with tools such as PQ and DM, and using FDISK /MBR, still gives the same result as described above.

How can I completely uninstall Restore Wizard under DOS (preferably the common 98 DOS), so that there is no need to install the system once again just to uninstall Restore Wizard? Perhaps if it can be uninstalled, Windows can then be entered successfully as well.

I just used version 9.56 to rewrite the MBR and the problem was solved. I don't know why the version I used before didn't succeed. If there is any better method, please keep letting me know.

After POST is finished, press CTRL+HOME to enter the Restore Wizard interface, then restore or remove it.
