I want to view *.pwl files on this machine. When I open them with ordinary text tools, a lot of garbled text appears. What exactly is this thing?
So far, I only know that pwl is just an abbreviation for password. |

.PWL is the user's login password under win9x. It's in the system directory (e.g. c:\windows\), and the filename is the username. If you delete it, you can log in without a password.
That's all I know, as for how to crack the password, we'll have to summon an expert! |

Since you already know it's a password file;
then you should know it's an encrypted file! |
