After quite a bit of searching, I finally found webmaster Wengier's article "How to Boot into Pure DOS under WinNT/2K/XP" on the Internet, and it solved my difficult problem. Thanks, webmaster!!
However, while using it I ran into another problem. I installed the trimmed-down edition of UCDOS and the Tianhui Chinese character support system in my dos directory. As a result, after booting from the hard disk into DOS, the Tianhui Chinese character support system cannot display Chinese characters; they all turn into garbled text.
UCDOS also cannot start, saying it cannot find the "hzk16" or "hzk16f" file, while in fact "hzk16" is right there in the ucdos directory.
With no other choice, I'm posting for help!

I moved the UCDOS directory to the root directory, and it actually worked. Looks like "rd16.com" stubbornly insists on "\ucdos\hzk16".
Unfortunately Tianhui still refuses to work for me

How can I port 98's pdos95 for use on my standalone dos 7.10?
I copied the entire command folder from 98 and kept the original directory structure (c:\windows\command)
I also copied the pdos.def file from the root directory of 98 to the target root directory.
But the result is that it still cannot display properly. How can I solve this?

I'm not very clear about your specific purpose in loading a pure DOS system. If you want to load it under win2k or under 98, you can use the following method:
c:\windows\command -k e:\ucdos\ucdos.bat
c:\winnt\system32\command -k e:\ucdos\ucdos.bat
That is, add the -k parameter. Someone published this in Computer News before, and it really does work.
