First, please understand the situation.
Hardware:
CPU: P4 2.4G
Motherboard: Gigabyte 8PE860 (845PE)
Memory: Geil DDR333 256M
Hard disk: Maxtor DiamondMax 80G
Graphics card: Elsa SED (GF4 MX440)
Optical drive: Onda 52X
Floppy drive: SONY 1.44M
System:
XP + SP1 (cracked patch used for activation. It prompts that you must run the patch in safe mode immediately after restarting after installing SP1. But I found the patch after restarting and finding that activation was required. Then I entered safe mode again, ran it, restarted, and now activation is not required.)
Partition:
C: System partition (NTFS)
D: Partition specially for installing software (NTFS)
E: Data partition (transferred to NTFS for security consideration)
F: Partition for game, music, movie and other materials (FAT32)
G: Optical drive
Previously, all partitions were in FAT32 format, and MSDOS7.1 was installed (out of personal preference. Since there was no XP installation disk, I downloaded some materials about installing DOS from the internet and actually got it working. Two floppy disks, DOS installation disks.) Due to incomplete installation. The boot interface has dual options (XP, MSDOS7.10), but if you select DOS, it cannot succeed. You must boot with the installation floppy disk, then cancel the installation, and then enter DOS.
Now that I have converted C/D/E to NTFS, when entering DOS again, the default C: drive letter is actually the original F: drive. The GHOST originally in the E drive is not available now, and the system disk I backed up is also not visible. Checking online materials, I found that DOS cannot run under NTFS. I now want to use GHOST to back up my system disk again. This must install DOS under NTFS.
Asking experts. I want to install another DOS that can run under NTFS, and also have the option in the boot interface, without using the floppy disk to boot. (The original DOS boot from the F drive is not cared about.)请问 experts. How should I do it? Can someone give a detailed guide? Or can provide materials, websites, and I can study by myself also.
Thanks in advance!
