DOS stands for freedom, openness and progress. Let us work hard, learn from the openness and GNU spirit of FreeDOS and Linux, and together build and grow a free GNU GPL world!

For DIY, I looked up some floppy boot disks online and found that many disks contain a congig.sys file, and use HIMEM and EMM386 for memory settings. The available memory is controlled within 1MB (at most another 64KB can be added). The makers of these disks say that the DOS booted from them is real mode. Is this statement correct? Please help when you have time, thank you.
