A very newbie question: how do you enter pure DOS under XP?

Create a new shortcut, then type command. The shortcut it creates is the MSDOS mode.

The OP's question is very unclear; I don't understand at all what is meant.

1. The XP system no longer has a pure DOS environment. So if you want to enter a pure DOS environment, then it has nothing to do with XP.

3. If your machine has a pure XP system installed and uses NTFS partitions, and you want to boot a pure DOS environment from the hard disk in this setup, there are many ways to do it.
(1) Use Vfloppy to boot a DOS boot disk image from the hard disk.
(2) Use PQ to create a new primary partition on the hard disk, then activate that primary partition and install a pure DOS environment. After that, you can extract the boot sector file of that primary partition and use XP's boot.ini to call that boot sector and enter the pure DOS environment.

I'm not shooting you down; I'm only pointing out the obvious error in that sentence. Note: when I speak, I usually address the matter and not the person. I am only referring to the content of the post itself, not the author of the post.

Maybe you didn't read carefully. I only said it can be considered that, not that it is. I already emphasized earlier that there is no pure DOS environment under XP anymore.

Our purpose in answering questions is to solve problems, not to argue over meaningless wording. If after talking for half a day you still can't solve the problem at all, you'd be better off keeping silent.

It seems you don't know, or simply didn't notice. The author of this post asked this question in January, and at that time the website was definitely accessible, so he definitely saw that article. The website only became inaccessible starting yesterday, so only then did another forum user mention that the article couldn't be opened.
