The machine has dos6.22 and win95 installed. After I used the Win95 boot disk to do a sys c: once, it could no longer boot 6.22. Right now, the contents of msdos.sys are as follows:
WinDir=C:\WINDOWS WinBootDir=C:\WINDOWS HostWinBootDrv=C BootWin=1 BootMenu=1 BootMulti=1 BootGUI=0 NetWork=1 After booting, a menu appears, but when I select Previous MS-DOS version, it still boots the DOS inside 95 rather than 6.22. So how can I make it run 6.22 again now? Thanks. |

Theoretically it can be done, but MS-DOS 6.22 is obviously no longer of any use now, so you might as well just use the MS-DOS 7.x that comes with Win9x. After all, MS-DOS 7.x has better compatibility than MS-DOS 6.22 (it is a newer version, after all!).

Yes, you can. You just need to rename a few core files from DOS622 as below, then copy them to the root directory of drive C.
io.sys->io.dos msdos.sys->msdos.dos command.com->command.dos |

Thanks to both of you. But there's still one more problem:
When running dos7.0, after entering the ver command, should it display: windows 95.【version 4.00.1111】? Also, after adding those 3 DOS files, when I choose Previous MS-DOS version, the following message appears: incorrect dos version incorrect dos version bad or minssing command interperter enter correct name of command interperter(eg, c:\command.com) If I enter command at this point, the response is: bad or minssing command interperter enter correct name of command interperter(eg, c:\command.com) If I enter c:\command.com, the response is: incorrect dos version bad or minssing command interperter enter correct name of command interperter(eg, c:\command.com) Where is the problem here? |

Did you rename them first? It looks like you replaced 7.0's command.com with DOS622's command.com

Right, the WIN version number for MS-DOS 7.10 is 4.00.1111 or 4.10.1998 or 4.10.2222.
MS-DOS 6.22 does not support FAT32/long filenames/large hard disks, and it may also damage the system, so installing it is not recommended. |
