On the original Win98 boot floppy, formatting works normally, but after I put it onto the DOS boot disk I made, it shows what is in the picture below and can’t be used anymore! A question for everyone: what do I need to change to make it work properly??

It means the DOS version is wrong. Which version of DOS are you using? It isn’t some very old DOS version (such as 6.x), is it? Try the standard MS-DOS 7.1 boot disk below; the FORMAT command in it can definitely be used:

Thanks for the reminder from Wengier. After trying again many times, I found that msdos71b seems not to support long file names. For example, when calling lhymessage.bat, it gives the error prompt: bad command or file name..............
Also, I found that my inability to use format normally was caused after using NTFSDOS. It’s already solved, thanks Wengier!! Hehe~~~
