My Seagate 40G hard disk has been used for less than a year. Yesterday when booting WNXP it was very slow, and after entering WINXP it seemed to hang with no response. After booting with DOS I couldn't use the FDISK command. I could get into PQMAGIC, but drive D showed “CHEAK FAILED”, check failed, and I also couldn't delete drive D. I can use DIR to view drive D, but I have to wait a very long time. Under DOS I can't FORMAT drive D either. Asking the experts for help!!!

The heads are about to fail. You can try your luck with a low-level format.
See how much of it is still usable. When buying Seagate, don't buy the domestic-made ones, buy the Singapore-made ones. |

Does it make any unusual noises when the hard disk is spinning?
