China DOS Union

I never managed to get DOS networking working before, so I put it aside. Yesterday I saw a post by someone who had succeeded, and then~ all night long I kept switching between the forum and DOS, and after fiddling with Arachne's configuration over and over, I finally got it to the point where after I entered a URL in URL, the address immediately jumped to that LAN checkpoint page~ Under Windows, after entering the username and password, the network login window pops up and it logs in. But the webpage is just one gray screen, no input window, nowhere to fill anything in! Can't even see a single ant. But its other functions, like opening folders and so on, all work normally. I wonder if it's because it doesn't support Chinese? But even if it doesn't support it, there ought to be a garbled window at least (if there were garbled text, I'd fill it in anyway and get online first to enjoy it for a bit!): painful...

So then I tried Lynx too, but the more I edited that .cfg and those BAT files, the more confused I got. Left with no choice, I can only ask for help... Thanks!

Arachne does not support Chinese characters. As for Lynx, I'll post a configured slimmed-down edition in a little while.

(By the way, FreeDOS's Defrag can be used in Msdos71. I've tried it in both real and virtual environments, and there were no problems. The DEFRAG in FreeDOS so far does not support FAT32 or long filenames, and it also has many BUGs, so at most it only “looks like” there is no problem, while in fact there are lots of problems.

Right, it's still a test edition, but when I forcibly interrupted it halfway with ctrl＋alt＋deltree and rebooted, it didn't cause any damage or any effect on Win98 startup. It's just that it runs far too slowly.

Last time I used FreeDOS's DEFRAG in a virtual machine to defragment a FAT12 hard disk partition, and afterward all the files in it became unusable. And it also doesn't support FAT32, and may even damage long filenames.

If you really want to defragment a disk under MS-DOS 7.1+Win3.x, you'd better use the Win3.x edition of DEFRAG, which fully supports long filenames, large hard disks, FAT32 partitions, etc.
