I have the driver floppy disks, and the machine has DOS 7.1 installed (two disks).

You need special drivers for Pcmcia. Modify config.sys&autoexec.bat
I suggest you get the Samsung Q10 system restore CD and study it. |

If there is an executable program like SETUP on that driver floppy disk, try running it directly, then follow the installer's prompts to automatically complete the installation of the PCMCIA CD-ROM drive; if there is no SETUP program on the driver floppy disk, then just do as treebus said.
