I'd like to ask: if the command interpreter in your "Super Universal MS-DOS 7.10 Boot Disk" is replaced with a third-party product such as 4dos or ndos, will it affect the following features of the boot disk:

3 - Full Chinese and English long filename support
4 - Full (V)FAT12/16/32 support
5 - NTFS drive support
6 - USB drive support
7 - Large hard disk support
8 - Large memory support
9 - Support for various CD-ROM drives
10 - RAM disk functionality
14 - High system stability
21 - Strong system compatibility
22 - Very strong versatility
23 - Support for various protected-mode DOS programs

I would appreciate your advice!

Replacing it with NDOS or an old version of 4DOS will seriously affect long filename support, while replacing it with a new version of 4DOS will leave insufficient disk space, and compatibility will also decrease.

Thanks for your reply. I still have a few questions:

1. Aside from the things you mentioned, will the other features be largely unaffected?
2. If the system is installed on the hard disk rather than on the boot disk, can the disk space issue be ignored?
3. How new does the newer version of 4dos need to be?

4DOS version 7.x is actually pretty good. It supports long filenames, and its features are also fairly decent. Unfortunately it has some bugs, and up to now I still haven't seen jpsoft fix them.
