This computer has a “Watchdog” hard disk restore card installed, but because of a fault the machine cannot boot. I want to redo the hard drive, but the restore information has already been written into the motherboard. How can I remove the restore card information from the motherboard? The hard drive can be used to reinstall the system on a machine without a restore card, but it won't work on this machine.

Wouldn't reflashing the BIOS do it?

Go to your motherboard's website and download the latest BIOS file. Some flashing tools are special-purpose; for example, mine is Asus, so I have to use its dedicated flashing tool—Aflash.exe. Run it under pure DOS. Search Google for information related to your motherboard + bios; and remember: back up the BIOS to a floppy disk first.
