How can I boot the machine from a boot disk under a multi-OS setup without changing the BIOS settings (with the first boot device set to the hard disk)?
I saw an article on the forum called “Boot from a floppy even without a floppy drive (how to use vfloppy)”. It mentioned
that this can be done by modifying the boot.ini file and adding this line to it: C:\FBOOT.DOS=″ the system from a boot disk″.
FBOOT.DOS is a boot disk boot sector file made with the DEBUG that comes with Windows, and it is placed in the root directory of drive C. But I ran into a few problems:
(the computer has hard disk protection software installed, and the BIOS boot sector antivirus function is enabled)
1. I can't find the boot.ini file in the root directory of drive C.
2. Even if I find it and modify it, will those changes be wiped out after a reboot?
3. If the boot sector file FBOOT.DOS is placed on drive C, it gets deleted automatically after reboot. Can it be placed on another partition, such as drive D?
