My system is XP. I read through the posts for quite a while and still didn’t understand how I should do it. Right now I just want to know two things:
1 If I install DOS, does that mean my partition can’t be NTFS and must be converted to FAT?
2 For the CD edition of DOS 7.10, can that ISO file be installed under XP using a virtual CD-ROM drive?
Hope an expert can advise me!

Nobody has explained clearly how to boot it.

Even though nobody answered me, I still want to ask again: my system has only one XP installation, and drive C is in NTFS format, so I can't install DOS, but my other partitions are in FAT32 format. Can I install DOS on one of the other partitions?

No. Drive C must be fat or fat32.
For ISO format, please burn it to a disc and boot from the CD to install.

Many thanks to hunome for the answer! Looks like there's no way for me then. I'm too much of a newbie to dare convert C to FAT32, so I'll just wait until I reinstall the system in the future!

When installing MS-DOS 7.10, the system prompts:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
MS-DOS 7.10 SETUP
=================
Setup Will now check the partitions on your hard drives.
If you want to skip this process, specify the switch /H for SETUP.

Note: Please ensure that there is no error on your hard drives.
You can verify this by running SCANDISK or similar first.

MS-DOS 7.10 Setup is now checking partitions on your hard drives...
Warning: Coprocessor not present and DPMI setup failed!
If application attempts floating operations system may hang!
(E) Cannot read sector 0 of fixed disk 2 -- Invnlid function or parameter
(E) Cannot access fixed disk 2 -- Invnlid function or parameter
(W) Drive letter assignments may be incorrect
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why is this?
Also, the hard disk was reformatted with DOS-6.22 FORMAT, and no system is installed.
