I really didn't expect there'd still be a place like this nowadays...

Leaving that aside, I had nothing to do and picked up a few old games to play: Admiral 2, Evil Eye Demon God - Selya, Secret History of the Yuan Dynasty, Aviation 2

Under XP, after changing the memory settings I can get into the games, but in every case I can't see the mouse. The mouse still works, but the mouse graphic is invisible, so I can only feel around for where the mouse is...

There should be an expert here who knows what the problem is, right? I wanted to ask if there's any solution without installing a dual-boot system. Also, is there any relatively simple way to get the sound working? My sound card doesn't have that magical cable...

There seems to be a solution on the forum for DOS sound under WIN2000; maybe it works for XP too.
If you want to play DOS games, WIN98 is probably still the best.
Even if your sound card has an SB-LINK connector and cable, it's useless, because current motherboards don't have an SB-LINK connector anymore.

The sound problem when playing DOS games under XP is actually easy to solve: just download VDMS, and you won't even need to adjust the memory manually anymore. The hardest thing is the mouse problem you mentioned. I've looked around the forum for a long time and still haven't found a solution for it. But if your graphics card has a VESA mode, you might try executable files whose names contain numbers like 486 or 586. For example, with Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV, just run San486.COM, and it'll definitely work! I'm unlucky and don't have a VESA mode, so I have no choice but not to play!
