China DOS Union

I recently found an old DOS game that was quite good, "Colonization", but under the DOS that comes with 98, after running it, the screen gets garbled. So I'd like to ask all the experts here, how can this be solved? The premise is that my original system must not be damaged. Thanks.

I used your method, restarted the system, then pressed F8 and chose "Command Prompt Only" to enter MS-DOS, but when playing the game, the garbled screen still appeared. Is it that MS-DOS 7.10 no longer supports old games like "Colonization"? Is there any other solution? Thanks again.

That's not the case. I seem to have run this game under MS-DOS 7.10 before (though I didn't actually play it). If there is screen corruption, it's probably due to system configuration, for example loading HIMEM, EMM386 and so on in CONFIG.SYS. Can you tell me a download link for this game, so I can try again?

Also, how do I load HIMEM and EMM386 in CONFIG.SYS? My computer skills are not very high, so please teach me! Thanks.

After a lot of trouble I finally downloaded it, then tried it many times under MS-DOS 7.10, including “Command prompt” and “Safe mode command prompt”. The result was that everything ran normally, and the so-called garbled screen never appeared. I guess it may be a graphics card issue. Please use the INSTALL program that comes with the game to make the relevant graphics card settings.
