DOSBOX doesn't seem to have been covered on this site yet - China DOS Union Forum

Today I found a very nice project, DOSBOX:

DOSBox is a DOS-emulator that uses the SDL-library which makes DOSBox very easy to port to different platforms. DOSBox has already been ported to many different platforms, such as Windows, BeOS, Linux, MacOS X...

DOSBox also emulates CPU:286/386 realmode, Directory FileSystem/XMS/EMS, a SoundBlaster card for exelent sound compatibility with older games...

You can "re-live" the good old days with the help of DOSBox, it can run plenty of the old classics that don't run on your new computer!

DOSBox is totally free of charge and OpenSource.

I used to be very interested in DOSEMU, but DOSEMU's development seems to have reached its end. DOSBOX has let me see new hope. Judging from the goals it wants to achieve, it is very attractive.

It would be great if there were an open-source WINBOX version for DOS, Linux, etc...

I have used BOCHS, under both LINUX and win98. It's very good. The drawback is that it runs graphical interfaces way way way way too slowly, simply unusable. But for running DOS and LINUX in character mode, there is absolutely no problem, it's excellent. I guess the winbox wengier mentioned means BOCHS?
