I want to know the boot process of a ME boot disk! Can you write one about the ME boot disk!? Just like the one you wrote for the 98 boot disk!

The stuff about the WIN98 boot disk wasn't written by me, it was reposted. I haven't tried the WINME boot disk yet.

Microsoft never released an MS-DOS 8.0 (WinME) boot disk, so there is no such thing as a built-in boot disk issue. Therefore, if there is an MS-DOS 8.0 boot disk, it was made by forum users themselves, so the contents will certainly be different and can't possibly be generalized.

I'm talking about the ME boot disk! Haven't you installed ME before?! Just like 98! During installation it lets you make a boot disk! Isn't that it?! It seems you can make one in ME's Control Panel too! Just like 98!

Isn't a WinME boot disk just an MS-DOS 8.0 boot disk? I can say I basically never used the WinME interface, but I have used an MS-DOS 8.0 boot disk, and it was a self-made WinME boot disk by which I booted into pure MS-DOS 8.0 myself without using any patches.

The only good thing about msdos8.0 (don't know whether it counts as an advantage) is that it can load Umbpci.sys without loading Hiram.exe and himem.sys
As for the others, they don't seem as good as 7.1

There should be one more advantage: you can see that DOS8's IO.SYS is only a little over 100K, about 100K less than DOS71.

What imp mentioned about MS-DOS 8.0 being able to load UMBPCI without loading HIMEM is actually because IO.SYS in MS-DOS 8.0 loads HIMEM.SYS automatically, so there is no need to load it manually. Its main enhancement is that it can support large hard disks over 60G. But overall it is still not as easy to use as MS-DOS 7.10.
