My situation is the same as yours, we're both on 486s and both using ESS sound cards. I also want to know how to solve this. I can't find the ESS sound card driver. Have you solved it now? If you have, could you please share it?

The poster above, tell us the model number of the main chip on your sound card. Then go download it; maybe I have it here.

It's the integrated chip on the sound card board that has the largest area and the most pins. There is only one on each sound card. Just copy down the text on it, and maybe I can help you.

It seems that most ESS sound cards on 486s use these chips: ESS488,Ess688,Ess1688, etc.
They all have a common program. Essvol.exe and Esscfg.exe (one adjusts the sound, the other activates the sound card) If anyone wants them, send me an E-mail. They are very small, just a few dozen K. zhri@etang.com |

I want it, send me one! By the way, I changed to a CM8738 PCI sound card and downloaded the driver. There is sound in a certain game, but when I use it to listen to music CDs on the CD-ROM, there is no sound. What's going on? My E－MAIL is stiezhi@yahoo.com.cn
