Experts, has anyone written a program that can reboot automatically under DOS, similar to shutdown under Windows?

It will definitely cause problems!
When the BIOS was designed, it always assumed the CPU was being fully restarted, in real mode, and that important registers were in known states;
but when your program jumps directly to FFFF0h, the above assumptions are not guaranteed!
The system may be in protected mode, interrupts may be enabled, and a whole series of potential problems could cause the system to hang!
