I found that after my machine starts UMBPCI.SYS, it can no longer load EMS. When executing Devicehigh=Himem.sys, the detection takes a very long time and then errors out, and it skips loading. When it gets to using lh in Autoexec.bat to load programs into upper memory, the hard drive light stays on with no response, then it gives a "Cannot read drive C:" error. After abort, the next lh line does the same thing again, and it simply can't continue running. If I skip autoexec.bat, MEM /c shows that no EMS has been loaded at all.
Could some expert please give me a few pointers, I'm really depressed......
Machine specs: Athlon XP 1800+, KT400 chipset (MSI KT4V), two 256M Kingston DDR333 sticks, 1.2G Seagate hard drive.
