I found that after my machine starts UMBPCI.SYS, it can no longer load EMS. When executing Devicehigh=Himem.sys, the detection takes a very long time, then it errors out and skips loading. When it reaches the lines in Autoexec.bat that use lh to load programs into upper memory, the hard disk light stays on with no response, and then it gives a "Cannot read drive C:" error. After abort, the next lh line causes the same thing again, and it simply can't continue running at all. If I skip autoexec.bat, MEM /c shows that no EMS has been loaded.
Please, experts, give me some pointers. I'm really depressed...
Machine specs: Athlon XP 1800+, KT400 chipset (MSI KT4V), two 256M Kingston DDR333 sticks, 1.2G Seagate hard disk.
