I have been using Win98 for quite a long time. After reinstalling the system n times, I finally figured out some of the setup command parameters. Now I am taking them out to share with everyone.
/? Help on the usage and syntax of some command-line parameters of the setup command.
/C Do not install the Smartdrive disk cache.
/D Ignore the initial settings of the existing version of Windows. Users can use this parameter when reinstalling Windows because Windows system files are missing or damaged.
/DOMAIN: domain_name
Set the valid Windows NT logon domain name for Microsoft Network users to domain_name.
/F Ignore searching for files in the local filename cache. Although this makes installation take a little longer, it uses very little memory.
/IA Do not run the section in the Setup.inf file.
/IB Do not run the section in the Setup.inf file.
/IC If this parameter is used and RMDrivers=1 is not set, do not run the Config.sys/Autoexec.bat files at startup.
/ID Ignore checking the minimum disk space required to install Windows98.
/IE Do not create a boot disk. If this parameter is used, the corresponding windowscommandebd folder is also not created.
/IF Fast installation.
/IG Allow Setup to run on some Gateway and Micro computers with earlier versions of BIOS.
/IH Run Scandisk in a prominent position. Using this parameter helps users clearly understand the results while Scandisk is running or when an error occurs.
/IL Install the Logitech mouse driver. If the user is using a Logitech Series C mouse, this parameter can be used.
/IM Ignore checking low conventional memory
/IN Do not execute the network installer. Skip the network software and network setup screen display.
/IQ Do not check for cross-linked files.
/IR Do not update the master boot record (MBR).
/IS Do not run Scandisk.
/IV Skip displaying the installation screen during a Windows upgrade installation.
/M Skip playing audio (.wav) files during installation.
/N Run Setup when there is no mouse.
/N A#
# =0 Default
# =1 Do not check Windows-based programs, arrange MS-DOS-based programs
# =2 Do not check MS-DOS-based programs, arrange Windows-based programs
# =3 Do not check Windows- and MS-DOS-based programs
/ND Ignore the Migration.dll file and force Windows98 to overwrite newer files
/NF After “Copy Windows98 files to your computer” finishes, do not display “Remove the floppy disk from drive A.” This parameter is generally used when the user installs Windows98 from a bootable CD. It is equivalent to setting BootCD=1 in the Msbatch.i
nf file.
/NH When running Setup in the Windows95 user interface, do not run Hwinfo.exe.
/nm Ignore checking the minimum required processor (66MHz 486) needed to run Windows98.
/NOSTART Copy the minimum installation version of the dynamic-link library files (DLLs) needed to install Windows98, then return directly to MS-DOS state without installing Windows98.
/NR Ignore the registry check.
/NX Do not check the version of Setupx that is running.
/PI Preserve hardware-specific settings (hardware is not using default settings). Some versions of BIOS require hardware to work according to specific settings. By default, Setup removes hardware-specific settings, causing some hardware to fail to work normally.
/PJ Install Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) by default. script_filename uses a macro file at the specified location containing installation options to install Windows98 automatically.
/SRCDIR Specify the initial directory for the Windows98 installation files
/S filename Load the specified SETUP.INF file during installation.
/T:tempdir Specify the directory for the installer to copy temporary files to. If the directory does not exist, it will be created automatically. If the directory exists, any old files in this directory will be deleted.
/U:UPI Specify UPI
/IV Skip the bulletin board display during the installation process
/IW Skip the license agreement display during the installation process
/IX Ignore character set check
If there is anything wrong, I hope the experts will give me more guidance!
